Jessica Wehrman in the Washington Bureau is reporting that Sen. Rob Portman raised more than $2.9 million during the second quarter of 2015, giving him more than $10 million on hand for a Senate bid that’s 16 months away.
His campaign released the figures Monday morning for the period between April 1 and June 30. The reports are due to the Federal Election Commission July 15.
His Democratic opponents, former Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland and Cincinnati City Councilman P.G. Sittenfeld, have yet to release their fundraising totals.

Former Gov. Ted Strickland, a Democrat, has a 46 – 40 percent lead over Republican U.S. Sen. Rob Portman, who is up for reelection in 2016, according to a new poll from Quinnipiac University.
Portman tops Cincinnati City Council member P.G. Sittenfeld 49 – 24 percent.
The incumbent has a 49 – 28 percent job approval rating and a 43 – 21 percent favorability. Strickland gets a 47 – 29 percent favorability rating, while 85 percent of voters haven’t heard enough about Sittenfeld to form an opinion.
