Ohio governor candidate wants to use ‘rainy day’ fund to fight heroin crisis

Ohio Sen. Joe Schiavoni, who is running for governor in 2018, pitched an idea Wednesday to use the state’s “rainy day fund” to fight the opioid crisis.

Schiavoni, a Youngstown-area Democrat, and state Sen. Kenny Yuko, D-Richmond Heights, introduced a bill to use $200 million to fund more treatment options and education efforts.
